Electrochemical performance of La2NiO4+δ-Ce0.55La0.45O2−δ as a promising bifunctional oxygen electrode for reversible solid oxide cells

Abstract In this work, La 2 NiO 4+ δ - x Ce 0.55 0.45 O 2− (denoted as LNO- LDC) with various LDC contents ( = 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 wt%) were prepared evaluated bifunctional oxygen electrodes for reversible solid oxide cells (RSOCs). Compared the pure LNO, optimum composition of LNO-30LDC exhibited lowest polarization resistance R p ) 0.53 0.12 Ω·cm in air at 650 750 °C, respectively. The enhanced electrochemical performance electrode was mainly attributed to extended triple phase boundary more ionic transfer channels. hydrogen supported single cell displayed peak power densities 276, 401, 521 mW·cm −2 700, 750, 800 Moreover, electrolysis current density demonstrated 526.39 mA·cm under 1.5 V corresponding production rate 220.03 mL·cm ·h −1 . encouraging results indicated that a promising material RSOCs.
